(Dallas, Texas – June 13, 2011) Colo4 (www.colo4.com), a leading provider of carrier-neutral, premium colocation and data center services, announces that the company has gone live with four megawatts of facility power. With a total power capacity of 11.1 megawatts, Colo4 offers redundant 2N power through four autonomous power plants.
"Redundant power designed for high density applications has been one of the centerpieces of our data center, and with continued customer demand we were ready to go live with four megawatts," said Paul Estes, Chairman and CEO of Colo4. He adds, "Having this much power up and ready gives us the freedom to have customers—even those with large power requirements—installed in the facility and running high density power applications in a matter of days. Plus, it gives our existing customers the confidence that ample power will always be available as their needs grow." Since its founding in 2000, Colo4 has continued to strengthen its power infrastructure which includes four autonomous power plants, six backup diesel generators on standby, and an on-site fuel capacity of 60,000 gallons.
Colo4 CTO Paul VanMeter and Facilities Manager Ricky Vasquez recently co-authored a white paper exploring the topic of redundant power. VanMeter notes, "Redundant power is a term that is used pretty loosely in our industry, so it can be difficult for customers to understand what constitutes true 2N power and why it matters to their business." The white paper, The Truth Behind Redundant Data Center Power, can be downloaded at: http://www.colo4.com/pdfs/the-truth-behind-redundant-data-center-power.pdf.
